Recipe of the month

Potsticker Soup
A quick easy soup for a cold day

4 Frozen Potstickers
1/2 cup Frozen Peas
1/2 cup shredded carrots
3 cups Vegetable Broth
Salt and Pepper to taste

1. Heat Veggie Broth and Potstickers in a soup pan.

2. Add carrots, peas and green onions and simmer 3 minutes.

3.
Add salt and pepper to taste.

Exercise of the month:

Prone Spinal Rotation

Benefits:

  • Strengthens the spinal rotators, quadratus lumborum, shoulder stabilizers & gluts.

How to do this exercise:

(Always be sure to check with your Dr before performing this or any other new exercise especially if you have heart problems, high or low blood pressure, back or neck problems or are pregnant)

1. Lie on your stomach with your arms out to the side, elbows slightly bent.

2. Keep feet and hip bones on the ground. Inhale and as you look to your right hand and lift your right hand off the
        floor, let the ribs and chest follow if your body is strong enough to raise that high. Listen to your body and go
        only as high as your back wants to. Make sure that your pelvis stays still the whole time.

3. Exhale and slowly lower letting your eyes follow your fingertips until the hand touches the ground. Keep
       abdominals engaged the whole time.

5. Repeat left. Complete 8-15 reps on each side. After this exercise you can go into Childs Pose (see archives) to
       stretch.

Something to Think About:

Little Things Mean ALOT

New Years Resolutions. How can you make it easy on yourself? Each week make one change toward your goal. If your goal is health and weight loss for example, this week walk for 15 minutes per day more than you usually do. Next week - waik for 15 minutes again and add a few extra daily servings of fruits and veggies. The following week add another healthy behavior and before you know it, these new behaviors will become habits. If you slip one day. . . or one week, don't beat yourself up over it, let it go and start again the next day. Don't give up.
