Recipe
of the month |
Superbowl Pizza
Don't be afraid - it's easy, and fun.
Have a Make Your Own Pizza Party
4
cups Bread Flour
2 cups Spelt Flour
1 Dry Yeast Packet
1 TBSP Honey
Pinch of Salt
1 & 1/2 cups Warm Water
Mozzarella Cheese
Tomato Sauce
Whatever Toppings you prefer
|
|
1.
First you
want to make sure that your yeast is good. To do this mix
your yeast package with the warm water and honey. If it
foams up the yeast is good. If not, throw this away and
repeat this step with another packet of yeast. Make sure
to check the exp. date on your yeast.
2.
In another bowl mix your flour, olive oil and salt. Add
your yeast mixture and mix it all together. It's best to
use your hands for this. When all the ingredients are mixed
put the dough on a flat surface. Put some flour down under
the dough so that it doesn't stick to your flat surface.
Knead the dough with your hands for a couple of minutes
and then form a ball with the dough. Spray a bowl with oil,
then put the ball in the bowl. Cover the bowl and put in
a warm, draft free place to rise. Dough is ready when doubled
in size (1-2 hours).
3. Pre-heat your oven
to 350. Cut dough into 4 parts.
Take one part out and roll it out on your floured flat surface.
Put this pizza dough on an oil sprayed cookie sheet and
add your sauce, cheese & toppings (preferably healthy
toppings such as veggies and fresh herbs). Put into the
oven and cook until cheese is bubbly (15-20 minutes).
TIP: It's worthwhile to get a pizza stone. It makes
the bottom of the crust crisp and will reduce your cooking
time to only 5 minutes. If you use a pizza stone, put it
into the oven when you turn the oven on. When ready to cook
your pizza keep the stone in the oven - just transfer your
pizza onto the stone, then transfer it off when done. You'll
love it!
4.
Repeat with the other 3 parts of dough.

Exercise
of the month: |
|
Pilates Double Leg Stretch
Benefits:
- Strengthens the abdominals,
neck flexors & shoulder stabilizers.
|
How to do this exercise:
(Always be sure to
check with your Dr before performing this or any other new exercise
especially if you have heart problems, high or low blood pressure,
back or neck problems or are pregnant)
1.
Lie on your back. Bend the knees and hips 90 degrees. Slide shoulder
blades toward one another slightly and maximize the space between
the shoulders and the ears.
2.
Inhale to prepare. Exhale, zip your
abs, reach your hands toward the feet and lift the head, neck
and shoulders off the floor. Keep your head, neck and shoulders
off the floor and keep the eyes looking between the knees the
whole time.
3.
Inhale as you straighten your legs and reach your arms behind
you. The closer the legs go toward the floor, the harder it is
- so make sure you can keep your abs zipped wherever you are.
5. Exhale
and circle the arms around to your thighs as you bend your knees.
Repeat up to 15 times.
