Recipe of the month

Mothers Day Meringues

3/4 Cup Turbinado Sugar

2 egg whites

1 tsp Pure Vanilla Extract

1/8 tsp Cream of Tartar

Dash of Salt

1/2 cup Mini Dark Chocolate Chips


1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees.

 

2. In a mixer beat egg whites, salt and cream of tartar until stiff peaks form - about 3-5 minutes.

 

3. Gradually add sugar until mixed. Add vanilla extract & mix another 20 seconds.

 

4. Stir in mini chocolate chips.

 

5. Spoon or pipe meringues onto a cookie sheet or silpat sheet and cook 25 minutes.

 

6. NOTE ~ Meringues cook best when humidity is low - if it's a rainy day - be prepared for flatter meringues.

Pilates Hundred

 

Benefits:

  • Strengthens abdominals
  • Strengthens shoulder stabilizers
  • Increases breath awareness
  • Strengthens hip stabilizers

How to do this exercise:

(Always be sure to check with your Dr before performing this or any other new exercise especially if you have heart problems, high or low blood pressure, back or neck problems or are pregnant)

  1. Lie on your back with your knees bent, legs in the air. Zip your abdominals, slide your shoulder blades downward towards your hips. Inhale to prepare.

  2. Exhale and straighten your legs, reach your fingertips away from your shoulders and lift the head neck and shoulders off the floor.

  3. Pump your arms 2-3 inches as you inhale for 5 pumps and exhale for 5 pumps.

  4. Repeat this for 10 sets for a total of 100 breaths - hence the name.

  5. To finish inhale and lift your shoulders even higher off the floor for a moment, then slower exhale and lower.

  6.   Baby or medicine ball is optional. : )
