Recipe of the month

Steamed Artichokes

1 artichoke (or as many as you'd like)

1 TBSP Smart Balance Buttery Spread


1. Cut tips off artichokes outer leaves, scissors work great for this.

 

2. Cut end off the stem and cut the top of the artichoke off.

 

3. Cut artichoke in half lengthwise. With a spoon scoop out the furry insides and discard them.

 

4. Place Potato filling in a bowl and place skins back on the baking sheet then set aside.

 

5. Place artichoke in pot filled with about 2 inches of water and bring to a boil. When it boils, turn down heat to a simmer and cook until leaves pull off easily - about 20 minutes. Be sure to check the pot often to make sure that there is still water in it. If necessary add more water.

 

6. Serve with 1 tablespoon melted Smart Balance.

Rhoimboid Pull

 

Benefits:

How to do this exercise:

(Always be sure to check with your Dr before performing this or any other new exercise especially if you have heart problems, high or low blood pressure, back or neck problems or are pregnant)

  1. Stand with good posture. Zip your abs.

  2. Begin by holding the tubing in your hands with your hands up at shoulder level and slightly apart.

  3. As you exhale open your arms to the side while keeping your shoulders stable, elbows slightly bent.

  4. Inhale and release.

  5. Repeat up to 15 times and 3 sets. As your muscles get stronger you can use stronger tubing.
