Recipe of the month

Banana Pancakes


A favorite in my house

1 cup spelt flour

¼ cup flaxseed meal

1 TBSP Turbinado Sugar

1 tsp baking powder

Dash of salt

¼ tsp baking soda

1 cup almond milk (soy or cows milk can be substituted)

1 egg, beaten

1 TBSP smart balance, melted

2 sliced bananas

½ tsp cinnamon

1. Mix first 6 ingredients (dry ingredients) in a bowl.

2. Mix milk, beaten egg and melted smart balance in a bowl.

3. Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients. Add cinnamon. Mix.

4. Add sliced bananas and mix gently.

5. Lightly oil a non-stick pan. Pre-heat pan on medium high heat. Pan is ready when a drop of water bounces and      sizzles.

6. Pour some batter in pan. Pancake is ready to flip when bubbles appear and pop on the top of pancake. Flip and      cook 1 minute more.


Serve with Jam, Honey or Pure Maple Syrup. (Make sure not to buy the fake stuff, read the labels.) ENJOY!

Exercise of the month

Pilates Side Leg Series Part 4

The 3rd exercise in my favorite Pilates series. More in the series to follow in the upcoming months



  • Strengthens outer thighs and gluts
  • Improves Hip Stability
  • Strengthens abs and back.

How to do this exercise:

(Always be sure to check with your Dr before performing this or any other new exercise especially if you have heart problems, high or low blood pressure, back or neck problems or are pregnant)

  1. Lie on your side with legs straight and stacked on each other.Zip your abs.Lengthen your spine and keep good posture.Use top hand for support on the floor.

  2. Inhale make sure to zip. Exhale and lift top leg slightly higher than hip height.

  3. Inhale and bring the top leg back down gently.

  4. Lift the leg only as high as you can with complete stability in the rest of your body. Do not let your spine, pelvis or shoulders move. Keep your zip.

  5. Repeat up to 16 times then switch sides. The most important thing is to keep your body stable. Once you are stable then you can increase your movement. Start out with a small amount of movement in the leg in order to
    keep stability in your body. This exercise is meant to be done after part three of the series. Part 5 comes next.
