                            Apple Cider Wild Rice with  
                          Mushrooms 
                           
                            1 cup uncooked wild rice 
                               
                              1 and 1/2 cups Apple Cider 
                             
                              1 TBSP Olive Oil 
                               
                              2 cups Mushrooms,sliced 
                             
                              1/2 Onion, diced 
                             
                              2 Cloves Garlic, chopped  
                             
                              1/4 cup veggie or chicken broth 
                              | 
                        
                       | 
                      
                    
                    
                    
                  
                  
                    1. Cook rice according 
                      to directions on package. Substitute apple cider for 1/2 
                      of the water.
                    
                    2. Saute onion in 
                      olive oil. Add a little broth if necessary. Cook until onions 
                      are translucent.
                    
                    3. Add garlic and 
                      more broth if needed. Saute 1 minute. 
                     
                    4. Add mushrooms 
                      and 1/4 cup apple cider. Cook until mushrooms are soft.
                     
                    5. When rice is 
                      cooked add to mushroom mixture. Add 1/4 cup cider and cook 
                      on medium until cider is absorbed.
                     
                    ENJOY! This is a great dish served with chicken and a salad.

                            Side Leg Series Part 8 
                          Leg 
                            Lift 
                             
                            The 8th exercise in my favorite Pilates series.  
                            
                        Benefits: 
                          
                            - Strengthens outer thighs 
                              and gluts
 
                            - Improves Hip Stability
 
                            - Strengthens abs and back.
 
                            | 
                    
                  
                    
                    
                  How to do this exercise: 
                    
                  (Always be sure to check with your Dr before performing this 
                    or any other new exercise especially if you have heart problems, 
                    high or low blood pressure, back or neck problems or are pregnant)
                    
                      -  
                        
Lie on your side with legs straight and stacked on 
                          each other.Zip 
                          your abs.Lengthen 
                          your spine and keep good posture.Use top hand for support 
                          on the floor.
                       
                      -  
                        
Inhale 
                          make sure to zip. Exhale and lift both legs (together). 
                          Lift only as high as you can stabilize.
                       
                      -  
                        
Inhale 
                          and lower both legs together.
                       
                      -  
                        
Lift 
                          the leg only as high as you can with complete stability 
                          in the rest of your body. Do not let your spine, pelvis 
                          or shoulders move. Keep your zip.
                       
                      -  
                        
 
                          Repeat up to 8 - 16 times then switch sides. The most 
                          important thing is to keep your body stable. Once you 
                          are stable then you can increase your movement. Start 
                          out with a small amount of movement in the leg in order 
                          to keep stability in your body. This exercise is meant 
                          to be done after part 7 of the series.
